Both Bluffton Tigers varsity cross country teams began the 2020 by competing at Norwell High School’s Bob Dahl Invitational. BHS took sixth place in both the girls and boys events. The Lady Tigers competed in a field of 12 teams while the boys had a 10-team field. The girls scored 156 points with a team time of 2:04:29.7, and the boys posted a team score of 185 points with a 1:47:45.9 total time.
Junior Leslie Sprankles paved the way for the Lady Tigers with a fifth-place finish with a time of 21:28.9. Elayna Kitt was next in line for BHS in 12th at 22:40.2. Annika Linderwell (26:31.3) and Lucia Corkwell (26:32.6) followed with back-to-back in 44th and 45th. Closing out the scoring positions was Alysha Robles in 50th-place with a time of 27:16.5.
Aubrey Pulver (27:38.8), Emily Hiday (28:48.1), and Katie Bultemeier (29:54.4) completed the field for the Lady Tigers.
Leading the pack for the boys was sophomore Lucas Grady with a 31st place finish at 21:04.2. Sam Baumgartner (33rd) and Andrew Brown (34th) were not far behind at 21:07.9 and 21:10.1 respectively. Markis Crosbie and Grant Bultemeier rounded out the scoring for Bluffton. Crosbie claimed 39th place with a time of 21:32.3 while Bultemeier finished in 48th place at 22:51.2. Brody Yergler was one position behind Bultemeier with a time of 23:21.1.

The next race for BHS is scheduled for Saturday, August 22 at home. The girls are scheduled to get the day going with a 9 AM start.
