Bluffton Tigers Varsity Falls To Churubusco After Seventh Inning Score
Monday’s game against Churubusco was a heartbreaker for Bluffton Tigers Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 15-12 defeat. The game was tied at 11 with Churubusco batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored one run for Churubusco.
Kaden Gerber drove in four runners in the loss. Gerber drove in runs on a single in the second and a home run in the fifth.
Churubusco got things moving in the first inning, when Keenan Hendricks drew a walk, scoring one run.
Bluffton Tigers Varsity knotted the game up at 11 in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Gerber homered on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs.
Bluffton Tigers Varsity tallied five runs in the second inning. Eli Garrett, Gerber, Kaleb Riley, and Cameron Nestleroad all drove in runs in the frame.
Cal Ostrowski was the winning pitcher for Churubusco. The pitcher went three innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out three. Blake Bear and Blake Shepler entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Austin Lewis took the loss for Bluffton Tigers Varsity. The lefthander surrendered seven runs on one hit over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one.
Bluffton Tigers Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Gerber put one out in the fifth inning.
Bluffton Tigers Varsity tallied ten hits on the day. Gerber, Riley, and Dylan King all managed multiple hits for Bluffton Tigers Varsity. King, Riley, and Gerber each collected two hits to lead Bluffton Tigers Varsity. Braxton Betancourt led Bluffton Tigers Varsity with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 12 stolen bases.
Seth Abel went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Churubusco in hits.
