Bluffton Varsity Tigers could not keep pace with Norwell Varsity Knights 7-3 on Thursday. Bluffton Varsity Tigers opened the scoring in the first after Josie Phillippe doubled, scoring one run. Reese Frauhiger homered to center field, which helped Norwell Varsity Knights tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. A ground out by Mia Kurtz gave Norwell Varsity Knights the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third. Bluffton Varsity Tigers jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Macy Lemler doubled to center field, and Addison Kauffman grounded out, each scoring one run. Norwell Varsity Knights took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Kurtz hit a sacrifice fly, and Kayla Watkins doubled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Lillie Felton earned the win for Norwell Varsity Knights. The pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two. Phillippe took the loss for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. The starting pitcher went five innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking three. Phillippe, Lemler, and Kauffman each drove in one run for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. Kierstynn Reed led Bluffton Varsity Tigers with three hits in four at bats. Bluffton Varsity Tigers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Kenley Smith had the most chances in the field with 10. Norwell Varsity Knights amassed 10 hits in the game. Kurtz provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Norwell Varsity Knights with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Frauhiger set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Norwell Varsity Knights with three hits in three at bats. Kara Brown stole two bases. Norwell Varsity Knights turned one double play in the game.
