Bluffton Varsity Tigers couldn't keep up with Woodlan Varsity Warriors and fell 17-2 on Thursday. Woodlan Varsity Warriors jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Ellce Krauter singled, scoring one run, Brianna Noble singled, scoring two runs, Addison Klotz doubled, scoring one run, and Scarlett Gillingham singled, scoring one run. Woodlan Varsity Warriors extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Amelia Riley and Klotz. Bluffton Varsity Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a home run to center field by Josie Phillippe. Woodlan Varsity Warriors scored six runs on five hits in the top of the sixth inning. Kaycie Reed hit a solo home run to left field, Lucy McHenrry singled, scoring one run, and Klotz hit a grand slam to center field. McHenrry earned the win for Woodlan Varsity Warriors. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Phillippe took the loss for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 runs (seven earned) on 12 hits, striking out four and walking two. Phillippe led Bluffton Varsity Tigers with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Kamryn Ault set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Bluffton Varsity Tigers with two hits in four at bats. Woodlan Varsity Warriors amassed 17 hits in the game. McHenrry, Klotz, and Reed each collected three hits for Woodlan Varsity Warriors. Klotz led Woodlan Varsity Warriors with six runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 3-for-5 on the day. Noble, Riley, Krauter, and Gillingham each collected multiple hits for Woodlan Varsity Warriors. Noble and Riley each stole multiple bases for Woodlan Varsity Warriors. Woodlan Varsity Warriors ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game.
