Bluffton Varsity Tigers fell 7-5 to South Adams Varsity Starfires on Thursday despite out-hitting them 10 to eight. Kamryn Ault and Kiah Craig each collected three hits for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. Bluffton Varsity Tigers was right in it until South Adams Varsity Starfires reached on an error in the sixth inning. South Adams Varsity Starfires jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Reagan Bollenbacher singled, scoring one run, Reece Beitler singled, scoring two runs, and Riley Bollenbacher drew a walk, scoring one run. Jillian Phillippe homered to right field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first for the Bluffton Varsity Tigers. Beitler hit a solo inside the park home run in the top of the third for the South Adams Varsity Starfires. Bluffton Varsity Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to left field by Craig. Macy Lemler walked, which helped Bluffton Varsity Tigers tie the game at five in the bottom of the fifth. Shelby Weigel earned the win for South Adams Varsity Starfires. The righty allowed four hits and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking three. Josie Phillippe took the loss for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out nine and walking six. Reagan Beitler stepped in the circle first for South Adams Varsity Starfires. The starter allowed six hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Bluffton Varsity Tigers accumulated 10 hits in the game. Craig and Phillippe were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. Bluffton Varsity Tigers turned one double play in the game. Beitler led South Adams Varsity Starfires with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. Avery Brown led South Adams Varsity Starfires with three hits in four at bats. Weigel led South Adams Varsity Starfires with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Charlee Bollenbacher stole two bases. South Adams Varsity Starfires stole five bases in the game.
