Bluffton Varsity Tigers fell to Oak Hill Varsity Eagles 9-8 on Monday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the seventh when Pathie Speicher singled, scoring one run. Oak Hill Varsity Eagles rallied for the victory despite trailing 8-3 in the fifth. Bluffton Varsity Tigers got on the board in the top of the second inning after Oak Hill Varsity Eagles committed an error, and Kenley Smith homered to left field, each scoring two runs. Bluffton Varsity Tigers added to their lead with four runs in the top of the fifth inning thanks to home runs by Konley Ault and Kiah Craig. Oak Hill Varsity Eagles captured the lead, 9-8, in the bottom of the seventh after Brailyn Peterson hit a sacrifice fly, Ryleigh Myers singled , Becca Cardona singled down the right field line, and Speicher singled to right field, each scoring one run. Speicher earned the win for Oak Hill Varsity Eagles. The hurler gave up seven hits and eight runs (four earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Kamryn Ault took the loss for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. The pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, giving up nine runs (seven earned) on 16 hits, striking out four and walking two. Bluffton Varsity Tigers tallied 10 hits in the game. Kierstynn Reed, Ault, and Jillian Phillippe each collected two hits for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. Craig went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Oak Hill Varsity Eagles amassed 16 hits in the game. Speicher drove the middle of the lineup, leading Oak Hill Varsity Eagles with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-5 on the day. Cardona and Kierstin Peterson each collected three hits for Oak Hill Varsity Eagles. Peterson, Myers, and Kora Weller each collected multiple hits for Oak Hill Varsity Eagles. Peterson stole two bases.
