Bluffton Tigers Varsity and Bellmont played a tight game, but Bellmont pulled out the 6-5 victory on Tuesday. The game was tied at five with Bellmont batting in the bottom of the fourth when there was an error, scoring one run.
Bellmont captured the lead in the first inning. Bellmont scored one run when Wetter doubled with zero outs in the first inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, Bellmont tied things up at five. Voglewede homered on a 1-0 count in the third inning, scoring two runs.
Bellmont took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning.
Bluffton Tigers Varsity scored five runs in the third inning. Bluffton Tigers Varsity’s big inning was driven by a walk by Kolton Moore, a single by Mitchell Kuhlenbeck, a groundout by Clayton Thompson, a error, and a walk by Everett Johnson.
Macklin earned the win for Bellmont. He tossed two and a third innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking one. Kuhlenbeck took the loss for Bluffton Tigers Varsity. He pitched six innings, surrendering six runs, five hits, striking out five, and walking zero.
Ortiz started the game for Bellmont. He pitched two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs, two hits, and striking out one.
Moore, Johnson, Kuhlenbeck, and Thompson each drove in one run to lead Bluffton Tigers Varsity.
Voglewede went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bellmont in hits.
